Genres: Alt-Rock, Art Rock, #cloudrock, Pop, Electropop, Synthpop
Wormwood Star is an unpredictable art rock project from Los Angeles. Their first single, “Love Streams,” is an alt-country track that winds, bends and stutters though deep organs and crashed out drums. From there, the band’s debut EP, Rhapsody, makes stops in different genre territories like electropop (“Freeway”), stark R&B (“The Girl Can't Help It”), stadium rock (“Denim”) and beyond.
Wormwood Star’s music has had radio play on Melbourne’s 106.7FM (Soak & New Noise), Los Angeles’ 88.9FM KXLU, London’s NTS, and New York’s 88.1 WYNU in addition to being featured on Nina Protocol’s editorial #cloudrock playlist and soundtracking the Sandy Liang runway.
Wormwood Star is the project of composer Jake Nadrich and artist Taralyn Thomas. Nadrich’s work has premiered at major film festivals and institutions like MoMA and Visions du Réel, with original music featured in runway shows and stadium tours, while Thomas has performed extensively with her project Mary across LA venues including the Lodge Room, Zebulon, the Echo, and the Viper Room, and has exhibited art internationally. The group played their first tour abroad with stops in Copenhagen and London’s Shacklewell Arms.
